While the reopened California Academy of Sciences is old news to most, Sarah and I went there for the first time yesterday and were blown away. I was sad to see that the dinosaur exhibit, a favorite of my youth, was gone but everything else was so beautiful and amazing. If you haven’t seen it by now then I highly recommend it.

The Great Tortilla Conspiracy will print and serve (arguably) delicious edible artwork.
Imin Yeh will print with her portable printing cart, in a printer’s costume that tastefully (inarguably) matches her installation.
Meridian Interns will show their newfound linocut printing skills on an historic press.
And a rare special Northern California appearance by Yumiko.
The last day to see the exhibit is July 30.

Today the one and only Mayra Ramirez and I gathered at the studio of artist Cynthia Tom. This weekend Mayra and I will be having our annual Day of the Dead photoshoot and Cynthia was kind enough to lend us some dresses for it. We met and Mayra tried on all sorts of looks in preparation; below are some favorites.

For the last two weeks I have been furiously working on the final project for my Flash animation class. Here are some elements of the project that I have been fond of and stand on their own. From top to bottom we have composer Akira Ifukube, my favorite movie monster of all time: Gigan, and Mayra Ramirez in a movement sequence.

I had a great meeting with my homegirl Mayra Ramirez today (who’s now on tumblr). We planned some future projects together and we also took the time to take some hipstamatic photos. It’s been a while since I’ve used the app on my phone but I love the way the photos turned out.

Now that I’ve been working so much in Flash, I really have been trying to make time to sketch in Illustrator. I’m happy with my progress in trying to sharpen my casual drawing skills in the program.

Two favorites together. I always felt Moz would have been at home in Batman & The Outsiders in the 80’s.
I’m in summer school right now studying Flash. It’s my first time working in the program and the gif above and video below represent my first completed animation.
